Fish has long been one of the most preferred source of protein not only in the bodybuilding community but even in general staple diets of people. It is one of the most nutrition dense foods available today. Plus most of the fish produced is wild and a very few species are farm bred hence having fish is even more healthier. One of the prime reasons why including fish in your diet is the nutritional value that it provides for. This includes high-quality protein, iodine and various vitamins and minerals. It also includes the fat-soluble vitamin D, one of the most deficient vitamin.

Fatty fish are also much higher in omega-3 fatty acids. Omega 3’s are crucial for your body and brain to function optimally, and are strongly linked to reduced risk of many diseases. Heart diseases are another major concern affecting the world today. In one study of more than 40,000 male health professionals in the US, those who regularly ate 1 or more servings of fish per week had a 15% lower risk of heart disease. These Omega 3 fatty acids also help lower the risk of strokes in general. According to The British Medical Journal, the high omega-3 fatty acid content in fish also helped lower risk of strokes in subjects of the study.

According to a study consumption of fish is also associated with positive impact on the blood pressure levels in the body. A study published in the journal Circulation found that fish oil is helpful in lowering blood pressure due to its high concentration of omega-3 fatty acids. Another important benefit of consuming fish is that the omega 3 breaks down triglycerides and fatty acids in the liver thus lowering he risk of fatty lover disease.

A healthy diet would be the one that includes a healthy balance of proteins, good fats and carbohydrates in optimal quantities. Even proteins should come from various sources and not jut one but preferably from a first class source of protein.
