Understanding Type II diabetes

We have all heard of diabetes that is now one of the most common diseases or health problem that is affecting a lot of people across the globe. There are two types of diabetes which is differentiated by the presence of insulin hormone in the body. In Type I the body does not produce insulin at all and is also known as juvenile diabetes. This type of diabetes is usually found in young children and young adults. Type II diabetes is where your body either does not produce enough insulin or insulin does not function properly. Most of the people affected by diabetes today belong to the type II category. The reason type II category is spoken about is simply because it is an inflicted condition due to poor diet and lifestyle.

In type II diabetes the body does not produce enough insulin or the insulin does not function properly. This results in the increase of blood sugar levels in the body as the insulin does not displace the sugar from the blood towards the cell where it can be used for energy. As the blood is not transferred to the cells, the level of sugar in the blood rises resulting into high blood sugar levels.

Lifestyle, age, previous family medical history, food habits, resting habits etc. are factors responsible for type II diabetes. In fact diabetes is one of the most common health problems affecting the world today inspite of the increased awareness towards fitness and nutrition. Stress is one of the major reasons for diabetes type II as stress hormones have a direct effect on the person’s blood sugar levels. People with type II diabetes may experience an increase blood glucose levels while people with type I diabetes may get a varied response. One of the other main reasons for type II diabetes is the food habits.
