Coconut oil, healthy in many ways.

Coconut oil has long been one of the most healthiest oil or source of fat available. The only reason being people have started to understand the importance of it now. Some communities have always preferred coconut oil to other oils that include vegetable, seed oils etc. The Tokelauans community who live in the south pacific eat over 60% of their calories from coconut which includes a lot of coconut oil as well.
Coconut oil has proven to be beneficial for patients with alzheimers disease. Recent research has shown that the brain actually creates its own insulin to process glucose and power brain cells. As the brain of an Alzheimer’s patient loses the ability to create its own insulin, the ketones from coconut oil could create an alternate source of energy to help repair brain function. This also depends on the type of diet the person is, if he is on a ketogenic diet then it would be any which ways easier. Coconut oil has also been a long used oil in India. According a to study in India, the antioxidants present in coconut oil helped reduce inflammation and arthritis. Coconut oil contains lauric acid, it is known to reduce candida, fight bacteria and create a preventive environment for viruses to thrive in the body. Most of the diseases today are caused by the overgrowth of bad bacteria, fungi, viruses and parasites in the body. Coconut oil has also shown to improve brain function in the elderly population. In a 2004 study published in the Journal of Neurobiology of Ageing, researchers found that the MCFAs in coconut oil improved the memory problems in their older subjects.
Coconut oil is also beneficial for the heart, skin, hair as well as a great source of energy to the body in form of MCT (medium Chain triglycerides) which are easily digested by the body without a spike in insulin.
